Classroom Screen

This week's recommended digital resource is Classroom Screen. This tool has been a game changer for me. Any of us who have been teaching since before interactive boards, can remember using chalkboards (yes, I'm that old) and whiteboards to post directions, tips, tools, and reminders for students. Classroom Screen brings those tools to the digital space and gives them an upgrade! You can put up timers, noise level alerts, drawing tools (hello, math topics!), QR codes, text boxes (perfect for bulleted directions), dice, polling, and random name generator or group creator. I love the group creator feature--it makes collaborative work time go faster and can be randomized or created by the teacher.   There are dozens of backgrounds and you can create multiple scenes, perfect for each content area or grade level. This is a classroom management must have, and gives students the power of managing themselves without teacher interaction. It also helps students of all abilities and lear

Copyright and Creativity

Copyright & Creativity is a wonderful resource for K-12. There are lesson plans, ready to go materials and videos and images to support the lesson. Bonus course included for teachers to support their knowledge and professional development in copyright and intellectual property understanding. The site encourages students to be creative and encourages them as ethical creators, supporting AASL standards for students. Best part?! It's all free! Teachers can set up an account so they can create favorites and take the PD course, but accounts are not necessary for student use, so this is Ed Law 2d compliant.  They also have a YouTube channel, so videos can be found and shared on that platform as well. I will definitely use this site and videos to supplement the copyright textbook! 😄

KidLit TV

I am always looking for diverse ways to share authentic and fun children's literature. This resource is a keeper!  KidLit TV was one of AASL's Best Digital Tools for Teaching and Learning websites/apps in 2020. This amazing website has great resources for school librarians, students, and parents, primarily for early elementary ages. This website has several engaging resources such as: KidLit Shows StoryMakers (interviews and information about popular children's authors and illustrators) Read Out Loud (quality children's books read aloud) Ready Set Draw (instructional drawing with talented illustrators) KidLit Radio A literature podcast! Arts and Crafts Book Trailers There is no account creation or personally identified information collected so this resource is a perfect resource to use in the classroom or to share with home! The resources continue to grow and the team working on the website is dedicated to sharing quality children's literature with authentic audie
